“The knowledge that the air is safe and clean to breathe inside the UC will allow members to relax, enjoy their time, and stay longer in this pure space.”

NIO House

Shijiazhuang, China

The parti design of the Shijiazhuang NIO UC store is a simple horizontal line derived from the NIO philosophy of Action (below) & Vision (above). The horizontal line is physically represented on the facade by using opaque white glass on level one and slightly reflective clear glass at level two separated by a physical line made of steel channel. The glazing at level 2 reflects the sky by day and highlights the clubhouse's warm interiors by night. Our overall approach to the Shijiazhuang UC is to create a beautiful and functional space that combines green walls and an integrated air filtration to clean the air and create an even more comfortable environment than other typical retail and clubhouse spaces in Shijiazhuang.

Visitors can see the visual evidence of the air quality by checking the monitors throughout the space or looking on the app to see how clean the air is inside the UC compared to the exterior. The knowledge that the air is safe and clean to breathe inside the UC will allow members to relax, enjoy their time, and stay longer in this pure space.

The Shijiazhuang UC clubhouse features a fun pink Joy Camp for children where they can look out across the city. At the NIO Cafe, patrons can take a coffee class at the bar or meet with friends at the community table and lounge. Additionally, the Shijiazhuang UC living room is designed to adapt into various shapes according to the size of a forum event, giving members and the UC team as much flexibility as needed through the seasons.

Our ultimate goal in design is to inspire future dreamers and visionaries, the inventors and creators, the ones who will go on and one day fulfill the reality of their future. When bright sparks ignite in the minds of youth, the brighter the light burns toward a better world for all.
